Grant Construction is fully CDM-compliant; comfortable in the role of Principal Contractor and capable of producing and maintaining a Site Waste Management Plan.

In order to successfully meet the demands of the sectors within which the Company is active, site operatives are both highly trained and vetted. Each working party includes a trained First Aider. Managers are qualified under SMSTS and CSCS.

The Company operates a managed PPE regime and has an Occupational Health Strategy, together with a strict Drugs and Alcohol Policy

At Grant Construction, the safety and efficiency of the plant, vehicles and equipment

used is of paramount importance. Every endeavour is made to select the correct equipment for the task and to ensure that it carries current certificates of test. PAT testing of Company owned equipment is carried out in-house.

Any materials supplied to COSHH are accompanied with the relevant COSHH Risk Assessment and Materials Safety Data Sheet.

Reporting procedures have been implemented for any Accidents, Near Misses, Incidents and Dangerous Occurrences, with records held in compliance with the law.

From spring 2016, Grant Construction engaged The Building Safety Group as external safety consultants, to carry out regular audits on site. BSG are the largest, most established provider in the UK.

Fully-qualified inspectors call to sites regularly, unannounced, at approximately 3 week intervals. Their inspection reports are instantaneously available electronically.

Membership of the group gives access to a multitude of on line documentation and services via a portal:; a member help line; accident investigation; an annual health check; together with the benefit of discount on the cost of training courses. There are also regular publications such as the monthly National BSG Online Newsletter new legislation, HSE prosecutions, training updates, webinars, etc.

Also from spring 2016, Grant Construction qualified to carry out 7 day scaffold inspections in house.
